This painting depicts one of my childhood friends and concentrates on chiaroscuro techniques inspired by Caravaggio. In the blurred, almost inscrutable reflection, I invite the viewer to ponder the persistent human feeling of inadequacy. I used black throughout to suggest loneliness, contemplation, and a delicate balance within the mind between what is tangible and that which is undefined.
